What is a lunar eclipse?

A lunar eclipse, otherwise known as a blood moon, is an event in which the Earth passes between the moon and the sun, blocking most of the light, except for small slivers that sneak around the Earth’s surface. These slivers are mostly orange and red, giving the moon a red hue, hence the term, “blood moon.”
